Having resumed my activity on the HF bands after many years of being only on VHF, in December 2016 I decided it was necessary to improve the reception in the lower bands (mainly 80 and 160 m) and at the same time experiment with the antenna most top-banders love, the Beverage. Due to the type of terrain and size of my properly I had to opt by a relatively short (180 m long) Beverage and put it on 3 m high posts. As I expected from the rocky soil it was impossible to achieve a good grounding, even with four 1.5 m rods in each end, so I later added five 15m long radials at each end. In spite of this limitation, the RX improvement is impressive and I am very satisfied with it. The antenna is in the SW-NE direction and thanks to fact it is reversible I can use it both for listening to Asia (+-45 degrees) and to a part of South America (+- 225 degrees). I used the kit from Remote-QTH and I love it. Hopefully some day I will be able to add a second one in the SE-NW direction and also improve the reception in those directions.
