Kapellbrucke Picture of the Kapell-Brucke in Luzern (Switzerland) Date: Sep-2005 Camera: Minolta Dimage-XT Comments: This wooden covered bridge was quickly rebuild after the fire that destroyed it in 1993. It crosses the Reuss at the exit of the lake and its shape has become the symbol of the city. It was build at the begining of the XIV century, is more than 200 m. long and protected the town looking to the lake. Beside the bridge there is a robust octogonal tower covered with tiles que is called Wasserturm (water deposit). It was decorated with a hundred of paintings over the wood that told the history of Luzern, Switzerland, Saint Leodegar and Saint Mauricio. The current paitings are reproductions of the originals lost in the fire. |
