Castle of Cardona Picture of the castle of Cardona (Catalonia / Spain) taken in/from the salt mine Date: Sep-2004 Camera: Minolta Dimage-XT Comments: The castle of Cardona is one of the better defensive castles of Catalonia, and one of the most outstanding Catalonian historic conjuncts, as it has been never been surrended by arms. It´s located on top of a hill in a fortified close of the IX century, from where there is an excellent panoramic view of the city and the rich lands near the river Cardoner. Its shape is rhomboid and is made up of several buildings and strongholds, what means that at some places there are 3 and even 4 closes surrounding it. Ramparts are in the oldest areas of the castle, rebuild in the XIII century and that link it with the village. |
